Now on to My Commentary (**May Contain Spoilers: Read at Your Own Risk)

You might have heard of Joel Osteen, a well-known televangelist and American pastor. Whether you subscribe to Christian beliefs or not, just hear me out. I have heard of Joel Osteen prior to reading this book and from time to time, while flipping through the channels, have come across his segment. But I don’t know much about him or what he preaches. I only say this because I know there are mixed feelings towards him. This is my first experience truly absorbing his messages and I think they fit me. But his words and style may not for you (trust your gut!).

So I encourage people keep an open mind and try this book. Something might catch on and light that internal fire you desperately search for when you’re feeling burnt out or unmotivated.

I picked up this book out of the blue because I was feeling down and burnt out (still am – because trying to manifest dreams is a challenge but a challenge I’m willing to go through). I was desperate to get out of this mucky headspace of doubt, insecurity, and fear. So I gave The Abundance Mind-Set a try.

Personally, I love this book so much!! It’s a short, easy read. It leans on the motivational and inspirational spectrum of “self-help” content rather than practical advice. Honestly, I prefer inspirational words.

The Abundance Mind-Set contains lots of anecdotes that highlight people’s “miracle” moments. AKA how they were able to go from struggling to successful. Plus some references to stories from the Bible which were really interesting and didn’t come across as preachy to me. As a Christian based book, it does have an emphasis that faith in God will help you through the challenges and strife in life. However, I saw this book more as positive psychology centered, where mindset plays a huge, critical role in you making or breaking yourself. I feel The Abundance Mind-Set will appeal to all, regardless of religion. Like I said before, all you really need is an open mind and I think this book will give you that push and encouragement to gradually start building and moving towards your dream life.

Personally, I like this stuff. It speaks to me. And I can use the motivational messages from this book because it already speaks to me.

That’s my caveat with these self-help books. In my opinion, the self-help books, courses, shows, services, etc. that will help you most are the ones you already believe in. If you go into it with high skepticism or to criticize the work, probably won’t be helping you in any way. Totally fine! Move on to something that will help you. Granted, some people go into self-help materials. with the best and sincerest intentions that it will help them but they come out of it feeling a little disappointed. That’s fine too! Maybe you weren’t meant to hear the messages then or it’s not the best fit content.

Point is, no need to leave a mean comment about the work, just find something else that fits you better.

Really trust your gut on what truly, deeply speaks to you. When you do so, you’ll find an easier time absorbing the advice of whatever self-help materials you want to follow and also moving through your life’s journey!

I think everyone (keep an open mind) should pick up and read this book! I found The Abundance Mind-Set to be a useful and well-worth investment (it only costs about $10!). When I feel myself sinking into that darkness in my mind, I pick up this book to give me a mood boost. It encourages you to set your dreams, goals and expectations high. No, not so you can fail. So that every time you fail, you keep that bigger picture in mind, rise and learn from your failures and keep reaching for the stars! Whether it’s landing that dream job, house, healthy relationship, financial security, have faith in your dreams and the world works with you to make it happen. Or in Joel Osteen’s message, because God truly wants you to have the best, He will work with you to achieve it.

Are you thinking, if God wants the best for us then why do we suffer so much?!? Well bitch, God ain’t going to make life a paradise then we’ll never learn anything! He wants us to succeed. We can see suffering as something that weakens us or strengthens us. And I say choose the latter. You’ll be amazed with the results.

One of my favorite aspects he mentions about having an abundance mindset is to literally have an abundance mindset even if you’re still poor. Tangent: For me personally, I fear financial insecurity (hello, so does 99% of the population). So much so that I hold my money close to my chest and never share. Part of exercising an abundant mindset is having faith that you will always be provided for, regardless of your financial status.

So I tested this in a small way (let’s not get overboard with experiments here!). I donated money to various organizations I cared about. No reason other than sincere generosity. I didn’t expect anything. Months later, the total amount that I had donated to these organizations came back to me in a work bonus (and my work doesn’t give these out often)! I flipped out! I was so scared to let that money go, but when I did, the universe gave me the money back as a sign and reassurance that we are always taken care of so we have nothing to fear.

Another great message is what he said about being the miracle for someone else. Sometimes a kind, compassionate stranger helps us out when we’re in dire need. And they are like an angel sent to us at that time! So let us practice the same kindness and compassion. To help out others because you may end up being someone’s miracle. Again, use your best judgment and don’t go overboard. We’re not asking you to be someone’s genie and make all their wishes come true. Set your healthy boundaries. But sometimes your kind words to a stranger could be the one thing they needed to hear at that moment when their life has been shit. Be kind to others. Be the miracle for another.

There’s just so much this little book covers that I highly recommend you experience reading it yourself. Because it’s one of those things where you have to experience it personally to really make a judgment.

I know some people think it’s all flowery BS or phooey, but what do you have to lose trying it out? Might change your life. It changed mine for the better.

Good luck! And keep up that abundance mind-set! You’ll soon be reaching goals, heights and dreams you’ve never thought possible before. We believe in you!
